Jordan Retro I – Miss Aurora

As everyone may or may not know, I have a very strong relationship with shoes.
Although I love heels, there are some sneakers that I look out for.  The Nike Jordan brand falls into that category.
Jordan shoes are recognized around the world due to their popularity and legacy.
Personally, I know I am not the only girl who looks at a boys shoe above all things.
Whenever I see a boy wearing some fresh kicks it gives them immediate bonus points in my book.
I prefer the Retro above all other versions, so as I was browsing through the Nike website I came across these black and purple lace Jordan Retro 1 High which caught my attention.  Apparently the designers at Nike have also realized that Purple is the “it” color for fall and lace is being brought back.  I am a fan of Jordan shoes designed specifically for girls because they contain classiness. I can recall a few months ago when I was pondering buying the all pink patent leather Retro 1.
The Retro 1 is one of the most redesigned shoes by Jordan and they are always releasing unique designs for both boys and girls.  Thankfully I am a size 7 in boys, which is the cutoff before Men’s sizing and get to enjoy not only kids pricing, but all the girl versions as well.  Maybe I will think about buying these, but not too long because I know they will sell out in all stores.  Until then, I have began planning my early wake-up call to get in line for the November re-release of the Retro 12 in black and red.  – MISS AURORA

New Kicks – MilkshakeNYC’s Fall 2009 Line!

Some news from the MilkshakeNYC front… next week they’ll be releasing some new kicks.

Two new MilkshakeNYC collections are releasing shoes… The FannyPak Collection has two new releases, the Battle Black and the Battle I. And from the Betty Boop Collection, The Betty Boop Noir and Betty Boop Retro.

The Battle Blacks have matte black finish with some shine in stripes and dots, along with the side “Fanny Pak,” purple sole. These are my fav’s from the new releases. The Battle I is a crazy colorful hi-top, featuring pink, lime, orange, yellow and more. Personal favorite feature on these is the lime stitching on the base and the sea foam sole. I love that the “Fanny Pak’s” have a lightning bolt across the front, and the side zipper. Details… it’s ALWAYS in the details. (Plus, MilkshakeNYC’s kicks are comfortable.)

From the Betty Boop Collection, you’ve already seen Miss Famous Blog’s post about the Fetti Betty Shakes, but now there’s some new Betty to add to YOUR collection. The Fetti Betty Shakes are available NOW at K-Marts all over the US (Check MilkshakeNYC’s site for info, or online here). The two new members are the Betty Boop Noir (in black and turquoise) and the Betty Boop Retro, in black and red.

I don’t know if I can decide which one I like more, but I THINK I need to get the Betty Boop Noir’s first. With a nice turquoise base color with a slight sheen, and a black/white mono print on the side/front, plus Betty and her pet dog Pudgy… ok, so I have a favorite. The Retro’s feature a large Betty print on the site, with a different black/white mono style print on the sides/front. Red sole and stitching make for a nice combo.

So, do I like these kicks? Yea. MilkshakeNYC brings something new. A customized sneaker, reasonable prices, high-quality, and you know you’re gonna be the only one on your block rockin’ these.

Frugal Fashion Finds – Everything for under $150

So today… I went on a mission. Go find a few outfits with shoes for under $200 total. Don’t forget – at the end, learn how you can win a GC!

Since finding the MilkshakeNYC x Fetti Betty Shakes at K-Mart, I decided they might be the place. So, I started at K-Mart, and found a new brand THRE3. A classic style, polos, clean cut denim, v-neck pullover sweaters (with the cool little logo on the chest), and some other pieces that looked pretty good. Everything topped off at a max of $24.99 (denim). I found a pair of medium blue denim jeans, with stretch, minor boot cut, that fit perfectly. (That’s key… jeans are SO hard to find to begin with, yet alone the ones that fit the curves right). The colors were great. Lots of purple, turquoise, gray, red. The perfect color scheme to add to the closet, to start with to create an outfit.

So – my K-Mart finds are: 1 Pair denim boot-cut stretch jeans – $24.99 (all prices are BEFORE discounts), a purple v-neck sweater – $19.99, purple polo w/detail neck and sleeves – $16.99 and a cute turquoise dolman sleeve v-neck tunic with a matching turquoise/black plaid scarf – $16.49.

After all sales and discounts, the total for 4 pieces were $63. Not bad.

Second (and last) stop was PayLess shoes. The past few years they’ve really stepped their game up with some designer brand shoes, such as LelaRose, zoe & zac, alice & oliva, and now STPL x Airwalk.

I can remember years (many, many… MANY) years back when Airwalk was THE skateboard shoe. Jason Lee and Tony Hawk had their pro-models with Airwalk… fastforward about 20+ years and Airwalk has collab’d with Jeff Staple, (From the STPL x Airwalk site: DJ, curator, sneakerhead, writer and entrepreneur jeffstaple typifies the iconic essence of the Airwalk brand. His launch collection, exclusively for Payless, fuses boardsport culture, street style and contemporary design sense.)

I picked up two pairs (one “womens,” one “mens.”) They designs are tight, and the color schemes make me happy as well. Plus – payless has their BOGO sale so I saved $20 on the pair as well.  Pair uno is the Terra HiCut Skate in Purple/Orange/Gray/Black/White. (Also available in Gray/Blue), the second pair are the Terrain High brown boot-like kicks. These are gonna be my new fav winter kicks. (If you’re gonna check them out – check out the JIM95, the old school cut Airwalks from back-in-the-back-in-the…. All white.

Total Frugal Fashion Finds costs = $130 (before tax). Not bad for a day’s work. $70 under budget, and I have to admit, I’m pretty impressed with what I found.
